The haunting images coming out of Joplin, Missouri that show trees stripped of their leaves, houses obliterated, hospitals eviscerated, and people mourning the loss of lives and livelihoods are tragic. How Joplin, a town of only 50,000, will rebuild is beyond me.
As I reflect on the loss this small community has experienced and consider that there are 20,000 homes and businesses without power, I wonder how solar energy will help them rebuild and if it will become a technology adopted into the hearts and minds of the residents.
