The Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) will host a Small Wind Turbine Testing Workshop on September 11th and 12th, 2008 at the NWTC located at 18200 State Highway 128; south of Boulder, Colorado, and east of State Highway 93.

The focus of this workshop is to discuss specific aspects of small wind turbine field-testing and for NREL to coordinate with small wind testing organizations and established wind turbine test experts across North America that are involved with qualifying or testing the performance of commercial small wind turbines. Small wind turbines are defined as having a swept area equal to or less than 200 m2. The workshop is not intended to be an introduction to small wind turbine testing in the sense of ‘how to test small wind turbines’, but rather how the NWTC conducts small wind turbine field-tests in compliance with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standards. The information presented by NREL is intended for participants with a background in small wind turbine field-testing. In addition, the workshop will help participants understand the AWEA Standard requirements and initial certification to be done by the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC.)

In addition, participants will be selected on a first come first serve basis. Also, if you or your associate is not a U.S. citizen, we will need you to submit additional paperwork for the workshop. Please contact us at your earliest opportunity for our Foreign National Data form.

NREL has reserved a block of rooms at a local hotel with special pricing for all workshop attendees.
