Toyah Barigye is a Project Manager for The Solar Foundation’s SolSmart program. Prior to joining The Solar Foundation, she worked as a Renewable Energy Specialist at Arcadia Power recruiting solar and wind energy clients. She is founder of African Renewable Energy Investment Growth Consultants, a small consulting company that is conducting research and analysis of rural health clinic electrification in Uganda. She serves on the board of the African Union’s Diaspora Health Initiative and is a member of the Women’s Council on Energy and Environment. Toyah holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut.

Toyah Says: “Born and raised in Africa, and later educated in American universities, I come to the solar industry with a unique background and perspective. I have a deep respect for the relationship between man, earth, conservation of natural resources, and the differing energy needs of developing versus developed nations. The strained urban grids and often non-existent electricity in remote villages in Africa inform my passion for solar power. My graduate work at Columbia University and my experience in the field of renewable energy give me the skills to take full advantage of this opportunity at The Solar Foundation. I am so excited to be part of the team.”
