Zachary Greene is the Program Director for the SolSmart program, which recognizes local governments for making it faster, easier, and more affordable to go solar. Prior to joining The Solar Foundation, Zach held several positions at the City of Austin, most recently acting as Director of Communications for former Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell. Zach holds a Master of Public Affairs from The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and two Bachelor of Arts degrees from The American University.
Zach Says: “My role at The Solar Foundation enables me to work at the intersection of two of my passions – municipal government and renewable energy. While at the City of Austin, I learned that municipal governments are bastions of innovation and meaningful action. Cities and counties play pivotal roles in combating climate change and assisting in the transition to a clean energy economy. I believe it’s essential for communities to embrace solar energy, our most abundant renewable energy resource. I am dedicated to providing technical assistance to cities and counties nationwide in an effort to increase the adoption of solar and further local energy innovation.”
